Be that Disciplined One

Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life,
but whoever ignores correction leads others astray. (Proverbs 10:17 NIV)

Billy Graham once said, "When one man makes a stand, he stiffens the spines of other men"

Your disciplined life is a seed that not only affects you, but it also effects others around you. People are drawn to disciplined people like a magnet. Disciplined people can be trusted. It is a ripple effect that moves men to want to be better.

Be that disciplined one!

Manage Well

How well you manage will determine how well you are promoted.

And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand. So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority. (Genesis 39:3, 4 NKJV)

Meditate on Joseph's life and gain awesome insight!!

Obedience vs. Success

God is more interested in your obedience than your success.

The fact of the matter is the world wants you to chase after success, but it never tells you that trying to be successful will always elude you. It is like trying to catch the wind.

Yet, in the life of Joseph, we find something more interesting. That though he was a slave and had nothing, absolutely nothing, yet he was a successful and prosperous man. WHY?? Because the LORD was with Joseph. You can read this in Genesis 39:2.

So make your pursuit the seeking and obeying God's Will for your life and success will come looking for you God's way.

Guide Posts for Your Assignment

So continuing the series of Your Assignment. Today, I want to share some guide posts that might help you know that you are operating in your assignment. Remember, your assignment on earth is to solve a problem. God planned you!! You were created to solve a problem that ONLY you were created to solve. So it is vitally important that you get busy discovering your assignment, so you can impact a person's or persons' life.

1. Do you have peace about where you currently are in life, and where you are going?
2. Are you listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit constantly and consistently?
3. Are you in the Word of God constantly?
4. Are you moving in the direction of using your strength more each day?
5. Are you solving a person's or persons' problem that you feel passionate about solving?
6. Are people celebrating you as you solve their problems?

These are just a few guide post. There are several others that you can ask yourself, but this is a quick check list. Remember that you will be asking yourself these questions for the rest of your life. If you are 20 or 80 years old, these questions are still valid at all walks of life.

Another clue to your assignment. "What problem on this earth do you hate the most and you want to see it eradicated from the earth?" This fire or passion is not be taken lightly. It is a strong clue to your assignment that God wants you to solve.

Your Assignment for Your Life

This morning as I began my day i was encouraged to pick back up a book that had a profound impact on my life. I hope you are a reader; books will change your life; they have changed mine and i am not just talking about story books like The Great Gatsby or The Hardy Boys or a Tom Clancy book or a romance novel, which these are all great books but I am talking about books that will impact your life, make a change in your thinking and open your eyes. Such as The Magic of Thinking Big, As a Man Thinketh, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Success the Glenn Bland Method, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, The Greatest Salesman in the World, or Failing Forward.

It is called The Assignment by Mike Murdock. I feel so strongly that people are in this world looking for meaning and purpose. They want to do something in their life that will leave a lasting effect on this earth. In his book, he makes a strong statement that is very insightful, and very profound. The statement is "God Planned You." WOW!! Think on that for a couple minutes or even how about a couple of days. Just let that marinate in your heart and mind. You were a plan. God is a Master Planner. Think about this He planned a supper 6,000 years before it happened.

In this book he talks about your assignment and your assignment very simple is the solve a problem. That is it!!! You were created to solve some one or some people's problem. If God planned you, then He created your with a purpose to solve a problem that only you were created to solve and NO one else. You are that unique.

Think about it! Everything on this world was created to solve a problem. For example:

-Eyeglasses were created to solve the problem of people's sight.
-A hard-drive was created to hold and store information.
-A Car made for transportation.
-If your name is George Washington, you were created help establish a new, free nation.
-If your name is Martin L. King, you were created to establish civil rights.
-If your name is Steve Jobs, you were created to transform our world with technology.

And the list could go on and on. Well, it is food for thought that you have a purpose. Remember, your dream is just the reward of you completing your assignment. The dream is what gives you the fuel for your present assignment. Your assignment is to be discovered along the way and it will take on various forms or roles.

Your assignment is also known as your calling. The people that find their assignment NEVER WORK A DAY IN THEIR LIFE!!

In his commencement address to Stanford, Steve Jobs describes how he stayed true to his assignment even though he encountered various challenges. He gives three examples from his personal life- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF8uR6Z6KLc
